Check your circuit breakers
Temperature-related appliances like refrigerators, heaters and air conditioners have the highest power usage within your household.
That said, it’s prone to power surges, which may cause your circuit breaker to trip.
Should this happen, you can try switching your circuit breaker off.
And if this occurs frequently, you might want to separate your air conditioner’s circuit breaker from your main circuit breaker.

Check your thermostat and your aircon setting
Most people conclude that their air conditioning unit is not working when their room doesn’t get any colder.
Remember that to make your room cooler; you have to set the thermostat lower than the room temperature.
You can also check if your air conditioner is on “auto” mode.
Depending on your air conditioner, the “auto” mode has downtime in which the air conditioner rests when the room has reached its ideal temperature and switches back at a specific moment.

Faulty Fuse
Aside from the circuit breaker, a blown-up fuse is another power-related reason why your air conditioning unit might not be working.
If you haven’t changed your fuse since acquiring your air conditioner, it’s best to check it with a multimeter.
Fuses are readily available in hardware stores. However, replacing them requires basic electrical skills.

Clogged Air Filter
Your air filter ensures that clean air circulates within your room.
If it becomes filled with dirt, dust, and other debris, it might obstruct the proper airflow of your air conditioner unit.
How could you know you already have clogged air filters?
Ice will appear around your air conditioner unit, specifically on the condensation tray.
Sure enough, you don’t want to reach this point, so it’s best to clean your air conditioner filters at least once a month.

Faulty Motor
There are numerous reasons why the motor of your air conditioner–overexertion during hot days, frequent power surges, and even longevity of use.
To identify if your air conditioner’s motor is the problem, you can do a capacitor test on various parts of your motor.
That way, you can determine if only specific parts on your motor need replacing or if your motor is down for good.
Should you have a faulty motor, it’s best to contact your local air conditioner repair and maintenance service provider, as troubles like this require professional equipment and skills.
